J'ai enfin acheté mon premier cahier de croquis Moleskine. Mon but est d'en tirer le meilleur possible. Essayer de faire de chaque page une belle pièce sera un grand défi. J'utiliserai l'encre et la peinture pour la plupart. c'est très relaxant...
I just bought a Moleskine sketchbook. My goal is to make the best out of it. To try and have pretty pieces in every pages will be a challenge. I will use ink and paint mostly. It's really relaxing...

Blob

Mon premier personnage Flash! Je n'avais jamais pratiqué le design avec Flash auparavant. Les outils sont similaires à ceux de Illustrator, mais là non plus je n'ai pas utilisé le logiciel pour du dessin vectoriel. J'ai travaillé avec Illustrator pour faire de la présentation pour mes design de personnages pour pyjama, alors rien de vraiment compliqué.
C'était toute une aventure, mais maintenant que je connais mieux l'interface et les raccourcis claviers, ça devrait être moins difficile.
Je suis contente du résultat! Je pratique le design en vectoriel pour une opportunité de travail qui devrait être bientôt et là-bas ils n'utilisent que Flash. J'espère réussir à les convaincre avec ça! On se croise les doigts...

My first Flash character design! I had never tried flash for design before. The tools are similar to Illustrator but I didn't use that software for vector drawing either. I worked with illustrator in the past for prints presentations so nothing very complicated. 
This was quite a challenge but now that I am more familiar with the interface and the shortcuts, it should be a little less painfull.
I'm happy with the result! I am practicing vector design because of a job opportunity that is coming up and they only work in Flash. Hopefully this will convince them! Crossed fingers...

J'ai peint ce tableau lors du ''Relais pour la Vie'' la nuit du 26 mai. J'ai l'intention de la vendre au plus offrant au profit de la Société Canadienne du Cancer.

I painted this panel during '' Relay for Life'' in the night of May 26th. I intend on selling it to the most offering for the profit of the Canadian Cancer Society.

J'ai eu du plaisir cette nuit-là. Même s'il faisait froid, il y avait de l'ambiance. Vers 2h du matin il y eu des danseurs de Zumba pour nous réchauffer, c'était un bonne idée car nos corps sentaient la fatigue monter. Puis des séances de massages sur chaise gratuits pour tous les marcheurs, la classe... Ce fut une belle expérience de peindre devant publique. Les marcheurs s'arrêtaient pour observer quelques fois, mais j'étais dans ma bulle pas mal. Le temps à passé vite! La Société dit avoir amassée jusqu'à maintenant plus de
103 000 dollars pour la cause. Ils récolteront encore jusqu'à la fin du mois de juin.
I had fun that night. Even though it was cold, ambiance was there. Around 2 a.m. there was Zumba dancers to warm us up, it was a good idea because our bodies started to feel the fatique. Then there was massages on chair for free for all of us, the luxure... It was a great experience to paint in public. Walkers stopped by to observe what I was doing. I was very focused so time passed by very fast. The Cancer Society said they raised more then 103 000 dollars for the cause. They will still collect money untill the end of June.

J'avais vraiment besoin d'une pause, je recommence doucement le dessin en faisant quelques visages. Histoire de travailler un peu les émotions. Vraiment pour le plaisir. J'ai envie de continuer ma bande dessiné je crois bien. Je dois donc retrouver mon coup de crayon.

I really needed a break, I slowly start to draw again by doing some faces. I try to work out the emotions. Just for fun really. I feel like continuing my comic projet but I need to practice my pencil work a little.

Quand j'ai trouvé ce cadre de métal, je suis tombé en amour! Il est antique, mais se mari bien avec un style moderne. Je voulais donner un effet jauni au papier sur les coins. Le chat est disproportionné volontairement, j'aime le côté fictif de la scène.

When I found this metal frame, I fell in love with it! It is antique, but fits well with a modern style. I wanted to give a yellowed effect on the corners. The cat is volontarily disproportionate, I like the fictional look of the scene.

À date, c'est celle-là ma préférée sur bois. Le sablage a été toute une épreuve, puisque le bois était peint et teint et vernis. Je l'ai trouvé au même endroit que mes petits bols. J'aime le grains du bois ici. Une belle trouvaille!

For now, this is my favorite wood piece. The sanding was a challenge since the wood was painted, dyed and varnished. I found it in the same store as the small bowls. I like the wood grain here. A nice discovery!

Bon! Une autre de fait! Je suis bien contente de ce trio. Maintenant je vais commencer une autre peinture sur bois, plus grande celle-là. Après ça je retournerai au papier pour quelques temps, faire des croquis... J'ai de nouvelles idées, dont une pour un vieux cadre antique que j'ai trouvé récemment. Il est super jolie, en métal couleur or et peint en blanc...
Good! Another one done! I am pretty happy about this trio. Now I will start another painting on wood, bigger this time. After that I will return to paper for a while, make sketches... I have new ideas, one is going to be a watercolour for an old antique frame that I found recently. It is super pretty, in gold metal painted white on it.

Je ne sais pas trop quoi dire cette fois, sinon que ça continu dans le bon sens. Je vais maintenant entamer la troisième et dernière de cette série ''la dame de trèfle''. Et non, je n'est pas trouvé de carreau pour boucler le tout. Mais c'est pas grave, un carreau c'est quand même moins intéressant non? J'ai développé de la corne au bout des doigts à force de sabler le bois.
I don't really know what to say this time other than it continues in the right direction. I will now start the third and last of this series ''Queen of club''. I didn't find a diamond shaped bowl to make it even. It doesn't matter, a square is less interesting to see right? I developed calluse in the tip of my fingers with all the sanding.

Yay! Je suis vraiment contente du résultat de celle-ci! C'est la première d'une série. J'ai trouvée des bols à bonbons démodés dans un magasin d'objets usagés et j'ai voulu leur donner une nouvelle vie. C'est comme si des objets sous-estimés devenaient spéciaux. Ça m'a aussi permis de payer moins cher pour mon matériel...hehe J'ai remarquée que les panneaux de bois vendus en magasins d'art sont beaucoup plus cher que les autres médias. Je commence vraiment à aimer mon expérience avec le bois! Je vais en faire beaucoup, beaucoup plus!! Oh et aussi j'ai une petite photo de mon chat Hobbes qui s'est pris dans la poignée d'un sac ...hihi

Yay! I am very happy with this one! It is the first of a series on wood. I found cheesy wooden candy bowls in a used store and thought I could give them a second life. It is like if underestimated objects became special. And it also provide me a cheap material to work on... hehe I notice wood panels that you buy in art supplies stores is much more expensive than other medias. I really start to feel it with the wood experience! I will make more and more!! Oh and there is funny pisture on my cat Hobbes who stucked himself in tha handle of a bag ... hihi

Une de mes plus grandes oeuvres pour la convention. La photo n'est pas très bonne j'en ferais une meilleur bientôt.

One of the biggest piece for the convention. The photo isn't great, I will make a better one soon.

Celle-là m'a donnée du fil à retordre. J'ai des nouveaux marqueurs pointe-fine et j'ai eu besoin de m'adapter au jet d'encre plus abondant. Avec mon vieux crayon j'avais plus de précision. C'est aussi plus difficile pour moi de faire une aquarelle de ce format. J'avais besoin de plus d'eau, plus de peinture et surtout des plus gros pinceaux. Qui dit plus gros dit moins de précision... En tout cas pour moi. J'ai photographié les œuvres finis et j'ai encore pleins d'idées dans mon sac! J'ai acheté d'anciens bols à bonbons en bois, j'ai hâte de voir ce que je peux faire avec ça!
This one gave me a hard time. I tried my new markers on it and I had to adapt. The ink flows very well, too much compare to my old one that I had more precision with. It's also harder for me to paint bigger with watercolour. I needed more water, more paint et most of all bigger paint brushes. Meanning that I have less precision there too... Anyway it's like this for me. I took a picture of what's done and have so many more ideas in my bag. I bought a bunch of old wooden candy bowls, let's see what can I do with that!

Une première oeuvre sur bois dans ma collection! 

A first painting on wood for my collection!

En attendant de pouvoir continuer une grande aquarelle, l'inspiration m'à prise et je ne pouvais en démordre! C'est l'année du dragon n'est-ce pas? Je ne pouvais pas passer à côté... Mon idée de base était avec un monsieur en chapeau, canne et moustache. Je me suis laissée séduire par la jeune femme et voilà, je combine les deux. Bye-bye le monsieur! Peindre sur bois, je trouve ça un peu plus difficile parce que quand on met trop d'eau la peinture se faufile dans les rainures du bois. Donc avoir un chiffon à porté de main et attention d'égoutter le pinceau quelque peu avant d'appliquer la peinture...
While waiting to continue a bigger watercolour, the inspiration caught me and I couldn't wait. It's the year of the dragon isn't it? I had to do something about it... My first idea was with a man with his hat, cane and mustache. The young girl seduced me instead and voilà, I combined both. Bye-bye man! Paint on wood is a little more difficult because when you put too much water it goes in the little cracks of the wood. So always have a piece of cloth close to you and make sure to drain a little water off your brush before applying it.

Woupi!! Je me suis couchée tard hier soir et levée tôt ce matin pour fabriquer cette oeuvre. Ça va de plus en plus vite une fois la technique de travail établie. Il me reste à sabler un peu et vernir le cadre. Il ne m'a pas coûté cher alors la qualité est ''boboche''. Pour les curieux, j'ai utilisé la peinture acrylique pour colorer mes pièces de papier.
Woupi!! I stayed up late yesterday and got up early this morning to make this piece. This getting easier and easier once the work method  is established. The frame still need to be sanded and varnished. It didn't cost me a lot of money so the finsh is kind bad. For the curious, I used acrylic paint to colour the paper pieces.

J'ai tellement d'idées dans ma tête, c'est difficile à gérer parfois. Il y a cette série de trois, mes cartes d'artiste qui sont loin d'être terminés, deux autres en papier découpé, une dizaine de petites toiles acryliques et des tableaux de bois... J'ambitionne un peu trop peut-être, hehe. On se croise les doigts!
I have so many ideas in my haed, it's sometimes hard to manage. There is this series of three, my artist cards that are far from finished, two other paper cutouts, a dozen small canvas for acrylic and two wooden boards... I was alittle too motivated maybe, hehe. Fingers crossed!

La deuxième de ma série de trois. 

The second of my series of three.

 Le mois de mars est bien entamé, il fait déjà très chaud, la température bât des records je dirais même. J'ai juste envie de sortir dehors et voir le soleil... Ça et peindre, l'inspiration est à son plein. J'aime beaucoup travailler avec le carton aquarelle! Comme c'est rigide, je n'est pas de problème de feuille ondulée ou abîmée. Mes chats sont grands maintenant, je les fais sortir sur le balcon, ils s'excitent d'une mouche ou d'un coup de vent.
March is well under way, it is already pretty warm, the temperature beats the records I would say. I just feel like going outside and see the sun... That and paint, the inspiration is going well. I really like working with the watercolour cardboard! Because it's rigid, I don't have the wavy or damaged paper problems. My cats are growing big now, I let them go on the balcony, they get excited with flies and wind blows.

Enfin j'ai réussi à faire des photos qui ont de l'allure! Sur mon balcon avec beaucoup de lumière. Voici mon tout nouveau papier découpé! Il sera prêt pour la convention, il ne reste qu'à fixer l’arrière...

Finally I was able to able to take some good pictures! On my balcony with a lot of light. This is my new paper cutout piece! It will be ready for the convention, I need to fix the back to the frame...

J'ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à travailler à toutes les étapes de la confection. Le découpage doit être fait méticuleusement, j'ai stressé sur plusieurs morceaux. Et une fois qu'on colle, il faut être sur de soi! Ça ne pardonne pas...Je compte en faire deux autres, des plus petites pour l'accompagner. Encore dans le thème aquatique. J'aime trop les poissons!
I had so much pleasure working on each part of the fabrication. The cutting has to be done meticulously, I stressed upon some pieces. And once you're ready to glue, you have to be sure of yourself! It doesn't forgive... I intent on doing two smaller ones to accompany it. Still in the aquatic theme. I like fishes too much!

J'ai découpé une grande feuille de papier aquarelle en 60 petites cartes. Je ne sais si j'aurai le temp de toutes les peindre avant la convention d'artiste en mai. J'espère...
Yes! I decided to make my artist cards by hand! I know it's crazy but I like the idea to do plenty of little pieces with my informations behind. I cut 60 littles cards out of a big watercolour sheet. I don't know if i'll have time to finish them all before the convention in May. I hope...

Noël passé j'ai offert un courte-pointe pour mon frère Ulysse. J'ai fait un petit montage vidéo de ma progression pour faire changement. La musique est de ''Gotan Project'' que j'aime beaucoup! Ce projet fut une superbe experience. Je n'avais jamais fais de broderie de cette ampleur et compte bien en faire de nombreuses autres. c'est très agréable de s'installer sur le divan au soleil et broder avec un peu de musique.

Last Christmas I offered a hand-made quilt to my brother Ulysse. I did a little video montage to show my progression for a change. The music is from ''Gotan Project'' that I like a lot! I had never made an embrodery this big before but intent to do a lot of others now. I'ts very pleasant to do embroidery on the couch in the sunlight with alittle music.

This is the first in a serie of 3 paintings. I used thick watercolour cardboard.

À cause d'une grippe j'ai passé une semaine au lit, donc beaucoup de temps pour dessiner. Aujourd'hui je vais mieux alors je me suis permis une petite folie! Au soleil, dans la salle à manger, on sort les pinceaux! Ça remonte le moral...
Because of the influenza I passed a week in bed, it gave me lots of time to draw. Today I feel better so I went for some crazy! I permit myself to go at the dining room table in the sun! Let's take my paint brushes out! It's a nice cheer up...

J'expérimente avec mon crayon d'or et mon encre de chine qu'on ne voit pas très bien sur la photo.

I experiment with my Gold pen and china's ink. We do not see the ink very well on th picture though.

Je me suis gâtée en matériel d'artiste, j'avais besoin de plus de peinture acrylique et aquarelle. Mon copain m'a fait promettre de ne plus rien acheter car je suis compulsive dans un magasin d'artiste. ^-^ J'ai fait des nouveaux croquis dans le même genre que la première peinture et voila ce que ça donne. J'adore l'ambiance qui régnait aujourd'hui dans l'atelier. Il neigeait dehors, et les chatons près de la fenêtre, c'était doux et silencieux.
I spoiled myself with art supplies,  I needed new acrylic and watercolour paint. My boyfriend made me promise that I wouldn't anything else because I get compulsive in an art store. ^-^ I did new sketches in the same style that my first painting and this is the result. I loved the ambiance today in the art room. It was snowing with the cats on the window sill, it was relaxing and quiet.

J'ai du temps libres! Je me suis remis à la peinture! J'ai acheté des tas de petites toiles et cadres durant l'année 2011, mais n'ai jamais eu le temps d'y touchés. Après quelques croquis d'inspiration, me voilà de retour dans mon atelier, les manches roulées! Je me suis récemment inscrite à ''Art-O-Con'', une convention d'artiste à Burlington le 6 mai prochain. Plusieurs de mes peintures seront à vendre.

I have free time! I got back to painting! I bought a bunch of small canvas and frames during the year 2011, but never got the time to touch them before now. After some sketches for inspiration, here I am back in my art room, sleeves up! I recently subscribed to the ''Art-O-Con'', a convention for artists in Burlington on May 6th. Many of my paintings will be on sale.

Et voila! J'ai décidé d'utiliser l'acrylique pour colorer la carte de fête pour ma soeur. J'ai beaucoup d'idées pour de nouvelles peintures, on voit de sketches dans la première image. Et voila! I decided to use acrylic paint to colour my sister's birthday card. Also, I have a lot of ideas for new paintings. You can see some hint on the top picture. So if I manage to finish soon my Christmas exchange gift, you'll see new pieces on this blog! Yay!

Tada! Enfin un dessin! C'est une idée que j'ai eu pour la fête de ma soeur. Elle aura 8 ans le 19 septembre. Donc je montrai le dessin fini bientôt.

Projet BD

Je me suis enfin décidé de prendre des photos pour vous donnez un aperçu de mon projet BD. J'ai beaucoup de pages alors je ne finirai pas de si tôt. Surtout que je ne me consacre pas à temps plein. J'ai commencé sur les grandes planches. Ouf! C'est du travail! Je vais faire des test couleurs bientôt.
I finally decided to take some pictures to give you a hint of my comic project. There is a lot of pages so it wont be done soon. Especially because I don't work on it full time. I started doing the big panels. Ouf! It's a lot of work! I'll do colours tests soon.

Yarr! J'ai fais celui-ci pour un autre concours sur Sketchoholic ... J'ai réussi cette fois-ci à m'inscire avant la fin du concours! Le sujet c'est ''créature à deux dents'', mais je ne voulais pas juste faire une créature sur fond blanc. Alors j'ai fais une histoire autour hehe. Ce petit garçon sera probablement le personnage de ma première BD! Je la créé en ce moment même. J'espère pouvoir la finir pour la fin de l'été.

Yarr! I've done this for another contest at Sketchoholic ... I was able this time to subscribe to the contest before the end! The Topic is ''two teeth creature'' and I didn't want to just put a creature alone on a white background... So I made up a story hehe. This little boy is probably going to be the hero of my first comic! I am currently working on it. I hope to be able finish it by the end of the summer.

J'ai fait celui-ci pour un concours de dessin sur le site Sketchoholic . Il fallait créé une mascote pour leur site. Malheureusement je n'est pas eu le temp d'entrer mon dessin sur leur site avant la fin du concours. Au moins ça m'a fait dessiner!
I've done this one for a contest on the website Sketchoholic . We had to create a mascot for there website. Unfortunately I didn't get the time to finish it before the end of the contest. At least it made me draw!

Here it is! It's a small painting I did for Ryan. I like this new media a lot. I bought a multitude of small canvas so I plan on making others! Who knows, maybe I could sell some one day...

April

I started to be very creative this month. There is so many ideas fumbling in my head right now that I don't know where to start. Well here is a debut. This is a starting point for the title of my blog. I always loved Russian dolls. When I was a little girl, this was one of the things I would really like to play with. We didn't have one at home so whenever we went to my uncle's house, he had many dolls, I would play with them. Also it is fascinating the number of details and coulours. I finally got one some years ago for my birthday. So now I will make this doll a concept in this blog! I am currently trying colours in photoshop. I don't know yet if it is going to be traditionally painted or digitally. Don't hesitate to comment!

Poisson d'avril!

 Here is a second piece I tried with paper art. That one was for my Father's birthday. This time I added shading with watercolor pencils, but decided to not put water on it... So basically it's just colour pencils hehe I am glad this time I was able to explain to the 'framing' dude what I wanted! Last time was pretty constraining.
